No fluff, just insights and tips that get the job done

Frequently Asked Questions

UnderDeck Shield is entirely unique. Our proprietary design is a first of its kind… we expect a few questions. If you came looking for answers, you’re in the right place.

What types of decks does it work on?

Ground-level or elevated, new or existing, UnderDeck Shield is a solid solution for any deck with joists 16" on center.

How many panels will I need?

Spec your deck and determine the amount of panels you will need with the UDS Product Calculator.

What if my deck joists are not 16" on center?

UnderDeck Shield panels are engineered specifically for decks supported by joists 16” on center.

How much will it cost?

The average MSRP for the panels needed to be installed above or below a 12'X13' deck is right around $2,000, or less than $15/sq foot.

What is your return policy?

All UnderDeck Shield products are non-returnable once shipped.

Full return details are available in the Return Policy.

What if I need to cancel my order?

If you need to cancel your order, please contact us at support@underdeckshield.com within 48 hours of placing it. We’ll do our best to process your request; however, orders that have already been processed or shipped may not be eligible for cancellation. Approved refunds will be issued to the original form of payment.

What sizes are available?

Each panel is 47.5” x 33.5”, covers approximately 11 square feet:

  1. Depth 4 ft → Panel A only
  2. Depth 8 ft → Panels A + B
  3. Depth 12 ft → Panels A + B + C

For wider decks, add more panels side by side. Our precise product calculator will tell you exactly how much product you will need for your deck. Simply add your deck dimensions, and we’ll figure out the rest.

Do I need to use the included fasteners and sealant?

Yes. The provided materials are specifically designed for the system, and using alternatives will void the warranty.

Will it hold up in extreme temperatures, heavy snow, and rain?

Yes. The panels are made of weather-resistant composite material that is lightweight, durable, and stands up to rain, snow, and UV exposure.

Does it protect deck joists and framing?

Yes, when installed from above. UnderDeck Shield protects joists from rot, mold, warping and premature wear, ultimately avoiding maintenance costs and extending the life of your deck.

Is maintenance required?

Very little. Occasional cleaning is recommended—simply remove the fasteners at the top of a panel, flush debris out with a garden hose, then reattach.

How should I store panels before installation?

Store panels flat with the label side facing up, keeping the cardboard inserts attached to maintain their shape.

How much slope is built into the panels?

Each panel has a slope of 1 inch over 4 feet (e.g., a 12-foot deck would have a total slope of 3 inches).

What colors and styles are available?

Currently available in Dove White and Black/White. More colors and styles are coming soon.
